Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) Recognized as a Top Employer in BC

Feb 14, 2023

Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) has been named as one of BC’s Top 100 Employers for 2023.

“We’re pleased to receive this recognition for a fourth consecutive year,” said Geoff Dickson, Victoria Airport Authority President and CEO.  “Being recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment of the entire VAA team.  When considering the incredible challenges we’ve faced collectively in recent years, this recognition is a highly valued and exceptional achievement.”

Some of the reasons VAA was selected as one BC’s Top Employers include:

  • Encouraging ongoing employee development with tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions.  Employees can apply for an unpaid educational leave of absence for full-time studies.
  • Helping employees plan for life after work with retirement planning assistance along with generous contributions to a defined benefit pension plan.
  • Supporting a variety of charitable organizations each year and welcomes feedback on local and national initiatives to support.  Additionally, the organization generously matches charitable donations, to a maximum of $5,000 per year.

Now in its 18th year, BC's Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers throughout British Columbia were evaluated by the editors at Canada's Top 100 Employers using the same criteria as the national competition: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs. The annual competition is open to any employer with its head office in British Columbia; employers of any size may apply, whether private or public sector.
