Victoria Airport Authority Announces New Directors

Nov 23, 2018

Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) announced a number of changes to its Board of Directors:

Allan Haynes joined the VAA effective October 16, 2018, representing the District of Saanich.

Mr. Haynes worked for Air Canada in their London and European regional offices where he held a variety of marketing positions.  He later transferred to the Montreal head office where he worked in schedule development, long range planning, intercontinental routes and commercial strategy.  After a brief spell as a restauranteur, he returned to the aviation sector as an independent marketing consultant for the International Air Transport Association and several major airport authorities.  He holds a degree from the UK Institute of Marketing.

Past directorships include Chair of the Passenger Marketing Committee of the Comox Valley Airport Commission and past-President of the Peninsula Players, a community theatre group based in Sidney. He continues to write and direct a number of productions for the Peninsula Players.

“The aviation industry has always been a passion of mine, so it is a privilege to serve on the Victoria Airport Authority Board of Directors”, says Haynes.

Paul Gerrard joins the VAA effective January 1, 2019, representing the Capital Regional District.  Mr. Gerrard replaces Colin Smith, who completed an eight-year term on the VAA Board of Directors.

Mr. Gerrard has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry in England, Toronto and British Columbia and his company is a member of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association and Vancouver Island Construction Association. He was a Councillor for the District of Saanich from 2008 to 2014 where he served on a number of local and regional Committees.

With strong ties to the community, he served as past-Chair and trustee of the Greater Victoria Public Library Board, past-Chair of the Capital Region Housing Trust Fund and past-President of the Gorge Tillicum Community Association.

“Victoria International Airport will be seeing some major growth in the coming years, and I hope to bring my construction expertise to the boardroom discussions,"  said Gerrard.
