Victoria Airport Authority Announces a Development Exclusivity Agreement with Omicron
Jul 17, 2015
Victoria Airport Authority announced today that it has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Omicron, one of the largest integrated development, design and construction firms in Western Canada to construct a new commercial retail centre at the intersection of the Patricia Bay Highway (Highway 17), Beacon Avenue and Stirling Way.
The proposed Sidney Gateway development will feature ten buildings spread across approximately 7.5 acres with proposed services that include an anchor grocery tenant, integrated healthcare services, pharmacy, banking and restaurants.
A large portion of the development land is consistent with the Town of Sidney’s Official Community Plan (OCP), the VAA’s Master Plan, and considers the feedback collected during the VAA’s community consultation last summer. The VAA will now begin working through the next steps of the development process, which include requesting a change to the OCP for a portion of the property along with amendments to the Town of Sidney zoning bylaw. The VAA is making an application to the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) to exclude a portion of the lands that are currently in the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).
