The Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members effective April 1, 2015.

Mr. Donald has been on a number of fundraising cabinets for Island Health hospitals and served on task forces for various local governments.

“As a native of Victoria, I have seen how the airport has grown and evolved over the years.  I look forward to playing a role in guiding the future development of the airport, and I am grateful to the City of Victoria for allowing me the opportunity to represent them on the Board,” said Donald.

Wendy Everson is nominated by the Town of Sidney. Before entering law school, Ms. Everson worked with Transport Canada and Winnipeg International Airport as a project manager.  She was responsible for groundside development and management of commercial retail projects, commercial lease and license agreements, ground transportation initiatives and participated with the development of a marketing plan for the airport.  Ms. Everson maintains a private legal practice in the areas of real estate, development, business law, general corporate/commercial law and wills and estate planning.  She has a long history of community involvement and has volunteered with a number of organizations and foundations throughout her career, both at the executive level and with general membership.  Her past participation includes being a member of the Provincial Council of the Canadian Bar Association, Chair of various committees and educational sections of the Canadian Bar Association, President and Director of the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and a past member of the granting committee for the Victoria Foundation.  Ms. Everson is a recipient of the National Trust – Donovan and Maryla Waters Award in Trusts and Estate Planning.

“Being both a resident and business owner in Sidney, I am excited about being on the Board.  Having previously worked in an airport environment, I appreciate the challenges that are involved.  It is an honour to represent the Town of Sidney, and I look forward to serving my community,” said Everson.

Mel Rinald, Chair of the Victoria Airport Authority Board of Directors was pleased with the calibre of the new members.  “Given Wendy’s strong airport and legal experience, and Eric’s extensive business acumen, I am happy to see such strong candidates joining our Board.  Their depth of experience and commitment to their community will serve both the Victoria International Airport and their nominators well.  We look forward to their contributions over the coming years,” said Rinald.
