Victoria International Airport Awards Landscaping Contract to LANDECA

“As the premier air gateway to the region and the entry point for thousands of travellers visiting our region, the first impression of the airport must be outstanding,” said Geoff Dickson, President and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority. “Through an extensive competitive process, LANDECA has demonstrated their commitment to provide the airport with a comprehensive landscaping program that will reflect both the regional beauty and environmental values of our community.”
The Airport Authority issued a request for proposal in December 2011, seeking talented local companies to maintain many of the public facing areas near the terminal building. The RFP required proponents to demonstrate how they would maintain existing landscaped features, such as the bioswale ditches, rain gardens, compost facilities and the many colourful flowers and natural plant life that surround the airport. The longer term vision is to enhance the offering with a view to maximize beauty while being mindful of water requirements. The Airport received 21 submissions from local proponents and after a thorough review process; LANDECA was awarded a 3 year contract, which commences on March 15, 2012.
