Full Body Scanner Deployment at Victoria International Airport
Jul 8, 2010
In January, Federal Minister of Transport John Baird announced the acquisition and deployment of full body scanners at airport sin Canada. The equipment was initially targeted for the eight larger airports in Canada and it is now being rolled out to the next level of airports. Victoria is scheduled to introduce this equipment to its screening processes on July 10th.
This equipment is being used randomly for domestic and U.S. bound flights as a screening option for passengers requiring secondary screening. Passengers requiring secondary screening will now have a choice between physical full body pat-down or a full body scanning based on their preference.
