May 8, 2009
On May 7, 2009, the Victoria Airport Authority was honoured at the 15th Annual Victoria Hospitality Award Program gala breakfast with the distinctive G.E.M. (Going the Extra Mile) 2009 Award.
Since 1994, the Victoria Hospitality Award Program (VHAP) has encouraged outstanding hospitality by recognizing individuals, companies and associations from the Greater Victoria area that go out of their way to make visitors, and locals, feel like there's no better place to visit or live
Each year, an exceptional individual, association or company from the Greater Victoria community receives VHAP's distinctive G.E.M. Award for consistently setting an example of 'Going the Extra Mile'. G.E.M. actions may be exhibited through: Consistent excellent service to customers, encouragement and training of employees, and dedication to the community.
“We are so delighted by the surprise of receiving this award,” comments Richard Paquette, President and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority. “This award is not because of a single act by a specific company or person at the airport; it is recognition to everyone here who provides courteous service to our passengers and customers on a day to day basis.”
Most recently, the Victoria Airport Authority has been in the news for its new runway extension project. The extension will allow direct air service to London, England, which will have significant tourist and business economic generation.
