VAA Board Authorizes Construction of New Airport Fire Hall/Maintenance Building

Dec 2, 2008

The Victoria Airport Authority Board has decided to proceed with construction of a new Airport Fire Hall / Maintenance Building at a cost of $9.4 million.

The new 2252 square meter building was designed by Chang Holovsky Architects, led by Ladi Holovsky.

This innovative facility will allow the Airport Fire Service and Airport Operations staff to work from a common facility, sharing resources and improving efficiency.
Darcy Kray, President of Durwest Construction Management, will oversee the construction on behalf of the VAA.  Darcy’s previous experience with the VAA includes construction management services of the Airport Terminal building expansion.

Richard Paquette, President and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority comments on what this new facility will mean for the airport and the community as a whole.  “This new facility will provide us a safe, secure and effective base of operations, even in the event of a major earthquake.”  Richard adds, “The timing of the work is opportune for the construction industry in Victoria and that has translated into competitive tender results and good value for the VAA.”
