Victoria Airport Authority awards contract to expand public parking lot
Oct 6, 2005
The Victoria Airport Authority (VAA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the award of a $4.2 million contract to C-1 Contractors Ltd. to re-align the terminal building access road and add 575 spaces to the "daily" public parking lot.
President and CEO, Richard Paquette, said, "this project will complement our new terminal building, provide needed parking capacity and improved access to the terminal. Approximately 200 new parking spaces will be available this Christmas." Paquette commented, "with this added capacity we will no longer have to park cars on our entrance road during peak periods."
Paquette also commented, " VAA plans to build covered walkways for passenger comfort during inclement weather."
This project incorporates an innovative, environmentally friendly approach to rainwater management. Rainwater will be retained and treated within the parking lot before it finds its’ way to Reay Creek. Future information on the environmental benefits of the project can be found by clicking on the following links: Concept Plan (pdf), Landscape Treatment (pdf).
