Victoria International Airport Celebrates Completion of New Passenger Departure Lounge

Richard Paquette, President & CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority, and Alan Peterson, Chair, Victoria Airport Authority Board welcomed guests on July 12, 2001 to celebrate completion of the new passenger departure lounge.

The celebration was an opportunity to showcase the completed structure to many of Southern Vancouver Island's Travel Agents and Tourism Industry leaders, and to provide them with the opportunity to meet with members of the Victoria Airport Authority, the Design & Construction Team, airport tenants, and our valued Red Coat Volunteers.

The new departure lounge is surrounded by glass and offers a closeup look at the airplanes, as well as views to North Saanich and Salt Spring Island. Inside, the room welcomes you with live trees, attractive millwork, a business center, and a licensed Airside Cafe.

The departure lounge which opened to the public on July 16, 2001 marks completion of Stage 3 in Victoria International Airport's $21 million dollar terminal building expansion.
