Airport lands are divided into various land use types. Each land use type requires a potential developer to adhere to a set of permitted uses for the business that would operate on a particular parcel. All developments must meet the requirements outlined in our land development guidelines to ensure the development meets with all federal and provincial standards. We work closely with the local municipality on all development proposals, but the Airport Authority itself is the agency that issues all permits directly. Lease rates are reviewed every 5 years, are based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the first 20 years of the lease term and thereafter lease rate increases are based on market land values.
