Victoria Airport Authority recognized for Air Quality Management Study

April 22, 2008

Late in 2007 the Victoria Airport Authority began a detailed emissions inventory for both air contaminants and green house gases produced at the airport.

This study was a pilot project for airports across Canada and this program will help develop a framework that other airports can follow.

Terry Stewart, Director of Airside Operations & Development commented: "We are very pleased to be recognized by the Chamber for this work and how it will help to raise the awareness of these important environmental issues. We are proud of the Air Quality Management program that we have put together for the airport & our community."

Victoria International Airport, (YYJ) serves the Capital Region and Vancouver Island, with connections to all major Canadian destinations, the United States and Mexico.

YYJ is the second busiest airport in the Province of British Columbia. Close to 1.5 million passengers used the airport in 2007, plus an additional one million guests.
