Victoria Airport receives Community Spirit Award from Sooke Fine Arts Show

On July 23, 2010, the Sooke Fine Arts Society presented a Community Spirit Award to Richard Paquette, on Behalf of the Victoria Airport Authority in recognition of outstanding support of the Sooke Fine Art Show and its commitment to the Arts through its to Art at the Airport Program.
The VAA’s Art at the Airport Program began in 2001 with its first commission of public art during phase 1 of the terminal building expansion project. Today, the VAA’s permanent collection has eight pieces in it including local First Nations artwork located in the Baggage Claim Area and the Eagles Landing Observation Lounge. The program also includes a rotating art component which regularly displays the work of various local artists through the Art Gallery of the Victoria, local community arts organizations, and schools.
