Bike Path Grand Opening Event a Success
Saturday May 30, 2009 was a beautiful day on the Saanich Peninsula to celebrate the opening of the Mills Road Bike Path.
Among those that attended the festivities were Richard Paquette, President-CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority, Christine Stoneman, Chair of the Victoria Airport Authority, North Saanich Mayor Alice Finall, and John Luton of Victoria City Council and also President of Capital Bike and Walk Society of Victoria.
Many local councillors and residents of both the District of North Saanich and the Town of Sidney were also out to show their support of this new community initiative. After a few dignitaries addressed the crowd, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony and inaugural ride of the 2.5 kilometre path.
The new 2.5 km Mills Road Bike Path was completely funded by the VAA as a contribution to community and the local environment.
